The Reddy Kilowatt Hour
From Beautiful Downtown Merrifield in the shadow of the Mosaic District, it’s the Reddy Kilowatt Hour, presented Thursdays at 9 pm ET on Radio Fairfax (Fairfax, Virginia). Hosted by a washed-up college DJ that is demonically possessed by a discredited cartoon spokesman for the electric industry. Reddy J Kilowatt is your rock and roll servant, featuring alt-rock, progressive rock, soul, occasional punk rock, deep tracks, forgotten classics, and brand new, angst-ridden favorites. Inspired by the great FM stations and DJs of the 70s and 80s who played whatever they felt like, along with the old AM radio energy of the late 60s - early 70s. There's still great new music out there and we play it in the context of the whole history of both rock and roll. #rock #roll #radio #reddykilowatt #alternative #progressive #whfs #wmms #wxrt #wlir #kroq #wmse #kcrw #cklw #worldsoldestcollegedj #radiofairfax

I wanna touch you, simple She's cold and she's cruel, but she knows what she's doing. She pushed me in the pool at a last school reunion. She laughs at my dreams, but I dream about her laughter. Strange as it seems, she's the one I'm after. She knocks me up about it. And I can tell I don't want anyone else. She's a mistake. She's too much for me, but I keep calling that form. She's just the girl I'm looking for. That's the girl I'm looking for. That's the girl I'm looking for. She can't keep a secret for more than an hour. She runs on 100 proof attitude power. And the more she ignores me, the more right or her What can I do? I do anything for her Cause she's been sweet. She must be off the mouth. And I get down I don't want anyone else. But I can't doubt it at all. I can't give up just yet. Don't bring it back. She's cold and she's cruel, but she knows what she's doing. Knows just what to say so my whole day is through it.
SPEAKER_00The click five. Just the girl from their debut record from 2005. Reading from Emory House.
SPEAKER_03Someone said something worried. You just stole it. I don't know. If you stay on you, no one even though it's here. Hydroplane. Need a lawyer. Having fun, throwing a sawyer, thinking twice, and the personals inside. You're missing your life. You're a news thing that you can feel yet. And if you need to be free, I don't see what you see, but I'm not a boat. Even mountains grow It hangs in here. The disparity prayer. The space that's in between you and Larry and what we're saying. Well it's not part of you. And I give away to not stay mistake. And if it's not for me, and I'm willing to leave I wanted you and wasted on you.
SPEAKER_01Now you come to me. Nice in the blue eyes and a hungry lock. You range your mouth with those blue eyes you cut with those hungry eyes. You range your mouth with those blue eyes you cut it, get it, get it, get it, get it, give it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it straight, you better commit, you tell my part, and then you leave the red place in bed in the combat spectral in the end of the street, that's the bag, you know, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get destroyed. I saw you on the street, I'm flopping on a lake, so I'm glad if I can pick you up, put a down and go around in there. Now you get the shout. Shovel's book for your gravy dream, but you're making everything up round when you sneak out now. Some back out You need my question, top your back, I'm throwing out to me, naturally, blue eyes and relax your manager, no blue as you come with the major as you come. You can't stay your career.

SPEAKER_04I heard he tells a sad story that comes up days by the end.
SPEAKER_05I just need a little time. We're getting there. I just need a little time. We're getting there.
SPEAKER_04I just need a little time.
SPEAKER_05We're getting there.
unknownI'm shining my boots and slicking mine.
SPEAKER_05The neighbors see me through the window. I do my best to keep it keen. A bin bag rained and some tiptoes. I've heard you've got a dog, and he's been through the throws, and he has a few answers for me. And that he can help me wake again.
SPEAKER_04I heard he tells a sad story. Comes up days his buddy.
SPEAKER_05I just need a little time. We're getting mad.
SPEAKER_04I just need a little time.
unknownWe're getting there. I need a little time. We're getting there.
SPEAKER_05I'm shining my boots and slick in my ass. Just finding my ways. Just minding my place. Finding my ways Mindin my face.
SPEAKER_02When the baby looks around me, so it's like to see. But not like brothers, leaders take a fall.
SPEAKER_03Why can't we learn a little each other?
SPEAKER_02Oh well, human face, stop the muddy change, play back and relax. Get back on the human track. Stop face with the blue fucking steps, that's very do you recognize well the truth when you don't think won't stop and let the doom split it to me. Want to come on and swing it too.
SPEAKER_00And we heard Stranger in a Strange Land. That was from 1971. It was only his second album. Leon Russell, famous for mainly playing piano with his left hand, as cerebral palsy prevented him from playing regularly with his right hand. The song is named after a 1961 science fiction novel of the same name, shelter people, an amazing group of session musicians, including a couple, who went on to Derek and the Domino's with Eric Laughton. Of course, there was a kid from England who called himself Elton John, who was also inspired by this record. Before that, we heard Big Special, a duo from the UK with their latest single, Slug Life. As with all their songs, the title was in all caps. They released their second album last year, National Average. We started out with Amateur last summer off their latest album, Amateur Music. You're listening to the Ready Kilowatt Hour on Radio Fairfax. This is music from a band out of Vancouver Island, British Columbia that we've played before. This is neighborly from their album Kerplunk. It's walking talking about it.
SPEAKER_03Laughing, crying, speaking, freaking, dreaming, you want to get my soul lack of control, awareness of time, awareness of smile, I'm on my own chaos of factors, lost as words understand the sun. Talking, walking, laughing, crying, speaking, freaking, dreaming, do you want to help myself? Always upset. It's over, get in the bad. Can I bring you out in the light? My curiosity is gotta be tonight. I think we had to take my dead. She's a lot like you'll be tired. She's a lot like you. She's a lot like you. She's a lot like you. She's a lot like you. She's a lot like you. It's a bad bike. She's a light bill. She's a light light. Woo! I would cook more food than I would ever eat. I would see the salt on every beach retreat. When my house divides, my house divides and yet small lies. Yeah, yes, multiple eyes. I would drink all of the wine you'd love me. I would spill my Pinot on my house divides, my house divides, and yes multiple lights. Yeah, yes, multiple lights. The groomers, they wash all the pups. The Roomers sweep up all the dust. I would start the day with him with I would fill my basement with a couple minutes. My house divides, my house divides, and yes multiplies. Yeah, yes multiplies. Measure for the bust. Chop off all the crust. But sometimes it's just too soft to consume. And you can't fill all the empty rooms. I would lock the door and died in here. I would give myself to you completely, my house divides, and you multiplies. Yeah, us multiplies.
SPEAKER_00My house divides. It's a five piece from Adelaide, Australia, just uh playing a couple shows in the US coming up in May on May 1st in LA and May 9th in New York City. Or there we heard the cars with Dangerous Titan, the 1979 album Candio. Happy birthday to drummer David Robinson. His birthday is today. How was the second album? Here's a book that came out last year called. Let the stories be told. David Robinson, the one with the keyboard, Red Hawk, and Guitar, Ellie Easton. Robinson famously said about the book. Nobody hated it any worse than they actually were. Before that we heard neighborly. We played it before the rotator in British Columbia. And we heard walking talking. You're listening to the ready kilowatt hour, and we're gonna take it to the top of the hour now. Dude Cervantes is out of San Diego. He's also known as guitarist Daniel Cervantes. We're gonna play some music from his band, The Ponchos. This is California.
SPEAKER_03You from California! But you didn't know that.
unknownUh-huh.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. You're from California. Uh in California. Heard a lot about that. Oh Tell me the truth. There's a bodies in the streets. And it's all around. Everybody's gotta come. And people don't run. And trucks all over the place. And everywhere. Nobody seems to care, California. Didn't we do that? Tell me what you need I'm telling you. Just post. That's right.
SPEAKER_00Dude Cervantes and the Panchos with California. And with that, it's time to unplug the Ready Kilowatt Hour for another week. A reminder, you can stream our old shows at readykradio.bustrout.com and also on your favorite podcast apps. And in fact, the month of March, we had almost 700 downloads of our show, which uh is definitely a record. I remember our first year on the air, the entire year, I think we had like 750 downloads, and I said, wow, that many people. Well, this last month we've come close to bettering that, which is absolutely amazing. To all of you, thank you very much for your listenership. And this is a lot of fun for me. Never thought as many people would find it fun as well. We are gonna be back on Radio Fairfax next Thursday night at nine with both rock and roll. Until next week, it's ReadyJ Kilowatt, your rock and roll servant. Stay well, stay safe, and please don't kill anyone. Good night.
